For an open competition to be recognised as a Target Pistol Australia (TPA) sanctioned competition and thereby a valid “national team qualifier”, it must comply with the following standards:

• The competition is conducted by a TPA affiliated club for TPA members only;
• The competition is only granted TPA sanction and not sanctioned in conjunction with any another organisation;
• Sanction and/or approval must be granted by the TPA affiliate and TPA;
• The event must be included in the approved calendars of the affiliate and TPA;
• An entry form is circulated appropriately prior to the competition; the competition is squadded and an official set of results produced;
• A TPA Judge is in attendance to oversee the competition and to certify results. The Judge is responsible for ensuring that standards are met and that the official duties are properly conducted. The judge(s) must complete and sign a match report that all the required standards were met by match officials and organisers;
• All ranges and equipment must be inspected and timed by the judge(s) prior to commencement of the match and, as required, if it is a multi-day match. A notice of range inspection and calibration shall be officially recorded;
• Ammunition testing must be carried out for events requiring this;
• The post match results and reports to be sent to the relevant State/Territory Association and TPA, the TPA National Referee Council (NRC) Director and the relevant TPA National Discipline Director. The post-match reports shall include:
  • Judge’s Report;
  • A set of final score results certified by the officiating judge,
  • Ammunition testing results (where applicable);
  • Range calibration report(s);
  • Copies of any written protests and resultant decisions.
