Before we dive into the inspiring stories of our incredible athletes, let’s take a moment to spotlight the stage for the 67th Target Pistol Australia National Championships – a venue that’s sure to make this year’s competition unforgettable! The Sydney International Shooting Centre will host this prestigious event, marking the first time since 2006 that the Nationals return here. For many of our Queenslanders and fellow state/territory members, it will be their first time shooting at this iconic venue. (home of the 2000 Olympics)

The Queensland team is a blend of fresh talent and seasoned experience. While many of the team are younger in years, the experienced members are ready to offer support, mentorship, and guidance to help the team excel. In the lead-up to the Nationals, we’ll be sharing insights into what the athletes are doing to prepare for the big event, from intense training sessions to mental prep.

And don’t worry – while the team is competing, we’ll keep you updated with daily progress reports to cheer on your club members and stay connected to the action from home!

Ben, representing the Brisbane International Pistol Club, is stepping onto the national stage for his first time at an away Nationals as part of the State Team. While there are no dedicated WSPS Team events this year, Ben will be showcasing his talent in his signature event – the 10m Air Pistol – competing in both the WSPS P1 division and the Open event. It’s an exciting milestone in what promises to be a great journey ahead.

Bruce proudly calls the Gold Coast PA Affiliates Club his home. A seasoned competitor, he has been representing the state at the highest levels on and off for over 40 years. This year, Bruce brings his incredible experience to the team, competing in three challenging events: the 25m Standard Pistol, the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, and the 25m Centre Fire Pistol.

Caitlin, from the Toowoomba Pistol Club, is gearing up for a special milestone – her final year competing in the Junior/Youth category. Representing the team with pride, Caitlin will compete in the Junior 10m Air Pistol and Junior 25m Pistol events. Looking ahead to her bright future, she’ll also step up into the senior ranks, joining the Women’s teams for both the 25m Pistol and 10m Air Pistol events.

Dave, from the Murrumba Pistol Club, is stepping up for his first away Nationals as a State Team representative. Competing in four events; the 25m Standard Pistol, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, 50m Pistol, and 25m Centre Fire Pistol, Dave is ready to showcase his skills and make a strong impact at the national level.

Dina, from the Gold Coast PA Affiliates Club, has been a dedicated member of the State Team for many years. This year, she’ll represent the team once again in the 10m Air Pistol Women’s event, continuing her impressive legacy of competition and commitment to the sport.

Joshua, representing the North Arm PSQ Affiliates Club, is making his debut as a Qld State Team member this year. With a focus on precision, he’ll be competing in two challenging events: the 50m Pistol and the 10m Air Pistol Men’s events. It’s an exciting start to what promises to be an incredible journey in the sport.

Kristy, representing the Brisbane International Pistol Club, is returning for her second year as a State Team member – and this time, she’s heading to her first away Nationals. Competing in the 25m Pistol Women’s event, Kristy is ready to showcase her skills and continue her journey toward even greater achievements.

Leo, from Murrumba Pistol Club, is making his debut in the senior ranks this year, proudly representing the team. Competing in three challenging events; the 25m Standard Pistol, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, and 25m Centre Fire Pistol. Leo is ready to take his skills to the next level and make his mark on the national stage.

Maddie, representing the Murrumba Pistol Club, is making her debut on the State Team with an extra special twist – she’ll be competing alongside her dad, Dave. Sharing the stage for the first time, Maddie will take on the Junior 10m Air Pistol and Junior 25m Pistol events, making this a proud and unforgettable moment for both her family and her club.

Matt, from the Brisbane International Pistol Club, is returning to the State Team for his 5th year, despite a few years sidelined by Covid restrictions. He’ll be competing in his signature event, the 10m Air Pistol Men’s, ready to bring his experience and skill to the competition once again.

Nicki, from the Metropolitan PSQ Division, is returning for her fourth year representing the team. Competing in both the 10m Air Pistol Women’s and 25m Pistol Women’s events, Nicki brings her experience and determination to the state team, continuing her strong presence in the team.

Oliver, representing the Toowoomba Pistol Club, is entering his final year in the Junior/Youth category, marking the end of an important chapter in his shooting career. He’ll be competing in the Junior 10m Air Pistol and Junior 25m Pistol events, showcasing the skills and dedication that have defined his journey thus far, as he sets his sights on the future.

Steve, from the FNQ Pistol Club, is once again representing the State in what has become a proud tradition. With years of experience under his belt, Steve will compete in the 50m Pistol and 10m Air Pistol Men’s events, bringing his skill and dedication to the national stage.
