Pistol Australia (PA) is a National Sports Organisation and through its affiliation with Shooting Australia (SA), PA maintains the sole right to field target pistol shooting teams to represent Australia at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, World Cups, Oceania Shooting Federation Championships and other international target pistol shooting competitions such as the NRA Bianchi Cup Action Pistol National Championships, International Metallic Silhouette Shooting Union (IMSSU) World Championships and World Association 1500 Match Championships.

Pistol Australia is a three tiered organisation starting at the grass roots with the individual clubs throughout Australia who maintain the membership base of the organisation. In order to take up the sport of target pistol shooting and become a member of PA you must join a local PA affiliated club. It is therefore at this level that anyone seeking to join Pistol Australia becomes a member.

PA is represented within each State and Territory through the respective State and Territory Association, which forms the second level of the PA structure. The State and Territory Associations are directly responsible for all activities on a State/Territory level and share a duel responsibility with the PA Clubs in keeping members informed about State and National issues.

The procedure for joining the target pistol shooting fraternity varies in each State and Territory and you should contact the relevant PA State/Territory Association for more details and/or about the location of you nearest PA Club.
