Services And WA1500 State Championships

today 31, August 2019

Results are posted – Competition on Saturday resulted with Ross Patching as State Champion in WA1500 Revolver with a 1462; he also became the State Champion in WA1500 Pistol with a 1460 and also again in Service Pistol with a 846.

On Sunday, Roy Facey became the State Champion in both Service Pistol Unrestricted shooting a 863 and Service Pistol 25yard scoring a total of 618.

Other interesting happenings through the competition:

Ross Patching and Tony Kent were in a shoot off for Gold and Silver in Service Unrestricted with Tony taking out the gold by only one point – well done Tony.

Tony Mills and Roy Facey were to be in a shoot off in Service Pistol but unfortunately Tony had left the range early so therefore Roy took out the silver and Tony the bronze.

Congratulations to both Jeff Greening and Peter Tessman who broke into C grade in Service Pistol 25yard.

Interesting turn of events on the Saturday when competitors were in the middle of their series at the 25 line and the targets turned away before time!!!!! Sudden silence, stunned looks with the Range Officer’s mouth ajar and shrugged shoulders by many!….the deliberation was then to accept the shots already fired or reshoot, some chose to keep their shots and forfeit the shots they hadn’t fired but most of the field decided to go back to the 10 and reshoot along with the 25. Even thoughbthere were a few grumbles amongst the field everyone accepted the rules and conditions in true good sportsmanship with some ending up in front after the reshoot and some behind their original score.

Thank you to the Volunteer Crew of Murrumba Pistol Club; both on the range; Karen in the scoring room and of course not forgetting Mark and his helpers feeding everyone for the weekend. Thanks to the Judges of the weekend in sorting out and making fair decisions by the rules. The range looked immaculate which we heard John had spent the weeks before hand getting it into ship shape condition – well done.
